How provisional is the Globus provisional?

The Globus temporary building near Zurich’s main station was built for eight years as a provisional solution. Now it has been standing for over sixty years. And it has been highly controversial for decades. So far, all reconstruction plans have failed, but now there are new visions for the site in the centre of Zurich, as SRF’s “Schweiz aktuell” recently reported.

IAZI sees slight price correction for multi-family houses and condominiums.

Are property prices still rising or already falling? The latest transaction data from the real estate consultancy IAZI suggest that the market for apartment buildings in particular has passed its zenith for the time being. This also applies to a lesser extent to the trade in condominiums, whereas demand for single-family homes remains robust.

Wakker Prize for the resurrection of a provincial town.

Historic small towns in the countryside – like Lichtensteig, for example – often have a problem: empty buildings lead to a creeping death of culture, commerce and urban life. For its courage in innovative revitalisation, the small town in Toggenburg has received the Wakker Prize 2023.
