We know it from gastronomy as a “greeting from the kitchen”, a small appetiser with a big promise of what will be served later. The Blickfang design fair recently invited a handful of influencers and bloggers to such a greeting from the kitchen on the occasion of its 25th anniversary – and Wüst-und-Wüst magazine was among them.
In the run-up to the Zurich edition of Blickfang from 19 to 21 November 2021, eight designers are exhibiting their work at the Modissa fashion house as a kind of foretaste of the major event, which will be held again this year in the newly renovated Kongresshaus.
There will be more than 180 designers with individual furniture, home accessories, fashion and jewellery to discover. They will transform the Kongresshaus into the city’s largest concept store for independent design. In short: a shopping event for all those who are looking for unique products. And: at Blickfang you can meet all the designers in person. Among them, for example, the Basel goldsmith Anna Schmid.
In her workshop in Basel’s old town, the qualified goldsmith and designer creates sensual jewellery objects and wearable small sculptures of special charisma with the finest craftsmanship. Their design language is inspired by dance and music, nature studies or the shapes and colours of precious stones.
Or the furniture designers LAIK with their flexible furniture design. Thanks to its patented slat structure, their designer table can simply be extended by half with just one movement.
iLAIK Table 80 – blue-grey/round/whiteAnd here it is: room for everything that the day brings. Without insert plate. Without a folding mechanism.
Or nanimanu, the design manufactory that surprises with its inspired wooden creations. Rena Hostettler, called Nani, a trained graphic designer with several years of experience in the advertising industry, has has brought her talent to PanoramaKnife as a product designer until 2019 and is the daughter of its inventor and successful advertiser Andy Hostettler.
With the manufactory, Nani wants to reinterpret the tried and tested and let beauty simply be. Old techniques are to meet new ones and thus create unique pieces of wood.
And of course the remaining 177 exhibitors from the fields of furniture, jewellery, fashion, fashion and home accessories – in addition to the well-known designers, many are also here for the first time this time.
Just this small selection shows: The Blickfang Fair is always worth a visit for everyone who likes beautiful things in life – be it for themselves or as a gift for the coming festive season. The fact that you can also view the successful redesign of the Kongresshaus at the same time is an additional incentive.
